Is Morocco right for you?
Published about 8 hours ago • 2 min read
This week, I was supposed to talk about who Morocco is and isn’t for. But here’s the thing: I think Morocco can be for just about anyone. It all depends on how you do it.
For example, I thought, “Morocco maybe isn’t for you if you don’t like long car drives.” But you could absolutely just visit Marrakesh, or Marrakesh and the Atlas Mountains, and have a full experience without the long car trips.

And I also thought, “If what you’re really looking for is a resort stay, then it’s probably not the right destination.” But then I realized there are actually a ton of resorts around Marrakesh where it would be easy enough to just sit by the pool all day—plus you’d have Marrakesh’s incredible cultural offerings and design and dining scenes at your disposal.

Morocco has a variety of landscapes and a history of cultural pollination, which means there’s a wide range of activities throughout the country. If you want to focus on active and adventure touring, or food, or crafts, or history, there’s plenty to do. And of course, if you’re interested in all of those things (like I am), you can have an incredible trip. And there are fabulous luxury hotels to boot.

It’s really one of those “checks all the boxes” destinations.
I will say that if you like to be totally independent when you travel, you’ll have a very different trip in Morocco than if you have a guide. Plenty of people do it (and have been for decades), and I think it would certainly feel more adventurous.
But having a guide to help us navigate the labyrinthine souks in Fez and translate so we could chat with local artisans and point us to the higher-quality (and lower-hassle) shops, made a huge difference. It just made everything feel smoother and more relaxed.

Whichever way you prefer, I can point you in the right direction. I'll tell you what’s easy to do on your own or where I recommend hiring a guide. And of course, if you want everything taken care of, I can make that happen, too.
If Morocco is calling your name, Reader, book a call and let’s talk about how we can make your dream trip a reality.
Ciao for now!
